Bethlehem (... New Hampshire...)

being in Bethlehem is not like being on vacation anywhere else I've been so far this summer.  In Bethlehem, I disappear into the moldings, sink into the grasses, and drown in my cups of coffee (at Maia Papaya, the only place with internet in this sleepy one-horse town).

Our days here are meant solely for us to put to good use, be that laying in bed (which I can't resist because my window is downwind of the neighbor's chimney, so i get that fantastic smoky scent), reading (all 1400 pages of "The Pillars of the Earth"), making jewelry, or birthing ugly sock creatures.

Our nights are filled with martinis, wine, dinners sprawled across the farm-style kitchen table, desserts that make your teeth hurt, scotch...

... and the occasional stuffed moose.
