i got this macaron recipe from cupcakes and cashmere and tried making it for the first time as a dessert for my parents' anniversary dinner. i am much more of a recreational eater than anything else. however, when i put my mind to it, i can bake a mean pastry. this was definitely one of the more ambitious ventures, but so so so satisfying.
the cookies were really easy. instead of a pastry bag, i cut the tip off of the corner of a large ziploc bag. i did burn the caramel the first time around... it rustled my calm a bit, but as the bf says (in his infinite wisdom), every pastry chef burns the first batch. i certainly don't claim to be anything, but i did feel better when the second batch came out perfect. perfeeeeeeeeeeeeckt.
